Westran track takes fifth in Littrell Relays

Westran High School competed in the Larry Littrell Relays, held Wednesday, May 5 at Glasgow High School. The Lady Hornets finished in fifth place overall with a total of 67 team points. Salisbury finished first with 125.5 points, Slater 2^nd with 99.5 pts, Glasgow 3^rd with 76 pts, North Western/Mendon 4^th with 72 points.

Bryanna Cerveney competed in the 100 meter dash and finished 2^nd with a time of 13.33 and also ran the 200 meter dash and won the even with a time of 28.03. Laney Shelby also competed in the 100 and 200 meter finishing in 5^th place in both events. Bryanna Cerveney also took 3^rd place in the long jump leaping 15’ 6 ½”

Allie Soto ran in the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run finishing 6^th in the 1600 with a time of 6:49.76 and 3^rd in the 3200 with a time of 14:42.40.

Westran’s 4 X 100 meter relay team finished in third with a 57.59 finish, relay members were Krissy Surber, Sadie Wilhite, Kaley Shelby and Laney Shelby.

4 X 400 meter relay team of Krissy Surber, Kaylee Sears, Kaley Shelby and Laney Shelby finished in 3^rd place posting a time of 5:01.92. Krissy Surber also competed in the pole fault event and took first place clearing the bar at 8’0″.

Westran qualified two girls for sectional competition.

Bryanna Cerveny qualified for the three events that she was entered.

1^st place – 200 meter dash – 27.98

2^nd place – long jump – 16’6″

4^th place – 100 meter dash – 14.09

Bryanna’s win in the 200 meter dash is the first time in 17 years (1993) that a Lady Hornet has won a district competition in track and field.

Krissy Surber was the other qualifier and finished second (tie) in the pole vault clearing the bar at 8’6″.

As for the Westran Boys, they finished in fourth place overall in the Relays. The top five team results for the boys were as follows:

1^st Salisbury – 116

2^nd Glasgow – 89

3^rd Higbee – 88

4^th Westran – 72

5^th Slater – 70

Westran’s Boys individual results were as follows:

100 meter dash- 1^st place Bryce Enyard 11.68, 3^rd place Tyler Aulber 11.87

Shot Put – 2^nd place Tyler Hunt 43’, David Kruse 14^th place 32’2″

Discus – 2^nd place Tycie Linneman 121’9.5″, 15^th place Jake Hayes 92’3″

4 X 200 Meter Relay 3^rd place, Deavon Cannaday, Zach Morgan, Billy Colston and Josh Higgins 1:48.50

High Jump – 1^st place Bryce Enyard 6’

Long Jump – 1^st place Bryce Enyard 21’4″, 7^th place Kalob Dale 17’9″
