Westran played it last game of the regular season Thursday night against Brookfield. Play began after the senior recognition ceremony for Westran’s varsity girls players Hayley Guzman, Kristina Marquez, and Nichole Conger.
Westran’s Lady Hornets couldn’t keep up offensively with Brookfield Thursday unable to hit double digits in any quarter. Brookfield held a lead of 13-5 after one and 27-11 at halftime. After the break Brookfield added another 14 points in the third and led 41-17 going into the final 8 minutes. They would coast the rest of the way and take the victory 46-26.
Leading scorers for Westran were Sam Gwinner with 12 and Sadie Wilhite with 5.
Before the second game began Westran brought out their senior players Bryce Enyard, Jeff Seymore, and Dakotah Eitel for their recognition.
Westran came out in the first quarter clicking on all cylinders and seconds after the tip off Westran junior Tyler Aulber hit a 3 pointer to start the game. Seconds later Westran forced a turnover and senior Bryce Enyard broke away for a one handed dunk. Westrans scoring frenzy kept rolling through the first quarter which included three more dunks by Enyard and after one Westran held a commanding lead of 36-20.
In the second Westran only got better holding Brookfield to 12 points while managing to drop in 20 of their own. At half time Westran had a lead of 56-32 which was largely due to Enyard’s 27 first half points.
The third quarter looked much like the second with Westran keeping their offense going and holding Brookfield to 4 third quarter points. With this big of a lead Westran was able to rotate in their bench and gave coach Floyd a chance to evaluate his team from all angels.
Westran finished off the fourth quarter adding 13 more points winning this rare high scoring game by a final of 85-53.
Westrans victory was led by senior Bryce Enyard with 29 points, followed by junior Tyler Aulber with 18 and Tyce Linneman with 16 points, Tyce also grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest. Westran’s senior Dakotah Eitel had 8 and Tyler Hunt scored 7.
