Westran hosts track triangular

Westran hosted a triangular track meet Monday, April 12 with participating schools Salisbury placing first with 77 points and New Franklin taking third with 18 total team points.
Westran girls’ team was short three athletes due to sickness which potentially could have gained them another 30 points to their total team score of 29 points. The athletes that did compete for Westran were forced to make some changes to the events in which they competed in and performed well in most events.
Robin Ingebritson posted a personal best distance of 81’3” in the discus which earned her 1st place in the meet. Robin also took second place in the shot put hurling the ball 30 feet 9 ½ inches.
Laney Shelby set a new personal best in the 100 meter dash at 13.82 seconds giving her a second place metal. Laney took second in the 400 meter run at 1 minute 9.69 seconds.
Krissy Surber also set a personal best time in the 100 meter dash at 14.14 seconds and finished 4th in the event.
Allie Soto won second place in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:24.7 and third place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:46.29.
Kalea Crews placed 4th in the high jump clearing the bar at 4 feet 4 inches.
Westran girls’ 800 meter relay team took first posting a total time of 2:02.32. Participants in the event were Brittany Jacoby, Krissy Surber, Kaley Shelby, and Laney Shelby.
No boys’ stats were available at press time.
Westran will next compete at the Atlanta Relays beginning at noon on April 14.
