Westran football continues offensive domination

The Westran Hornet football team traveled last to Eldon last week to take on Class 3 opponent Eldon Mustangs. The Hornets, ranked 8th in Class 1 football showed their dominance on both sides of the ball by taking down the Mustangs 43-0.

The first score of the game came on the first play from scrimmage for Westran when Senior QB Tyler Hunt tucked the ball and scored on a 78 yard run which seemed to set the tone for the game. The Hornets would not look back putting up 21 points in the first quarter and added another 8 in the second.

Westran’s only weak moment of the game came in the third quarter when the Mustangs got three first downs on one possession which accounted for most of the 101 total yards the defense gave up. The Hornet defense was able to prevent Eldon from scoring and went on to add two touchdowns in the fourth quarter en route to their 43-0 victory improving their record to 2-0.

The Westran offense tallied over 440 total yards on Friday while allowing just 101 yards on defense. Quarterback Tyler Hunt was 7-13 for 106 yards through the air and ran the ball 18 times for a game high 244 yards.
