Westran, Cairo drop district games
Kris Childs - October 15, 2010Westran’s softball season came to an end falling to Harrisburg 11-2 in the second round of the Class 1 District 9 Tournament last week in which Westran played host to what took place on October 6-8.
The Hornets had made it to the semi-finals by beating Madison the day prior 11-2.
In the tournament Cassidy Edwards pitched both games for a combined 13 innings, 9 total runs (3 earned) on 17 hits, 5 K’s and 1 BB. At the plate in the two games Brittany Cerveny had a single and a triple with 1 run and 2 RBI’s, Bobbie Nejedly 2 singles a run and 2 RBI’s, Sadie Wilhite had a single with 2 runs scored, Robynn Ingebritson collected 3 singles, Sam Gwinner had 2 singles, 2 walks and scored 3 runs.
Westran ends their season with a 13-11 record which is an improvement from last year when the Hornets finished 3-17
Cairo also fell in their semi-final match-up with Sturgeon bringing the Bearcat season to a close. Cairo was overpowered by the Bulldogs falling 7-2 making it the final game of the season and brought their record to 15-9
