Westran baseball dominates Brunswick

Kris Childs

Westran opened their baseball season on Friday when they hosted a make up game against Brunswick that was originally scheduled for March 22.

Westran controlled the game from the first pitch on as they managed to drive in four runs in the first inning. The Hornets added one more in the third and three more in the sixth to take the win 8-1.

The Hornets scored their eight runs on three total hits in the game. The team looked well-disciplined at the plate as they were able to draw seven walks.

Tyler Hunt and Bradley Minor both had a two-run singles and Tycie Linneman collected the other Westran hit.

Tyler Hunt threw four innings of near perfect baseball Friday evening carving up ten strikeouts and only giving up one unearned run to pick up the win for the Hornets. Andrew Baxley was credited with the hold in his three innings of relief. Andrew struck out four and walked one.

Westran starts the season 1-0 and will play at Harrisburg this Thursday at 5 p.m.
