Turner raises money in MS bike-a-thon

Catherine Turner, center raised $1,400 in the Bike MS event in honor of her friend Sheila Points who has multiple schlerosis (MS). Pictured from left are Sheila Points, Catherine Turner and Higbee High School Principal Jamey Fuemmeler.

Catherine Turner, Higbee, biked a total of 200 miles for Multiple Sclerosis in the Bike MS 2010 September 11and 12. She rode in honor of Sheila Points, Higbee, who has MS.

On her first day she biked a total of 100 miles to and around Centralia from Columbia. The second day her route took her east of Columbia to Mexico and back for another 100 miles. There were approximately 3,500 cyclists in this race.

Catherine made a goal to raise $500 for MS and to-date she has raised $1,400. Catherine e-mailed friends about her goal including Higbee School friends. The e-mail was then forwarded on and money came in for Sheila, who is a former secretary at the school. The goal for Bike MS 2010 was to raise $2.85 million and to date they have raised $1,952,448.61.
