Mongler qualifies for state golf

Moberly High School will be sending Senior Alyson Mongler to the 2010 MSHSAA Girls Class 1 Golf State Championship after qualifying in the Class 1 Sectional 1 Golf Tournament held at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton last week. Those who qualify for state are the top two teams in the tournament as well as 12 individual competitors that are not on the top two teams.

Moberly finished the tournament in fifth place with an overall team score of 451 but Mongler shot an 81 overall which got her fifth place in the tournament and a trip to the State Championship.

The top two teams that qualified for state were Villa Duchesne (350) and MICDA (Mary Institute Country Day Academy – 356) with the Sectional individual champion coming from MICDA, Caroline Rouse who carded a 75.

Centralia and Salisbury will also send a state competitor next week. Katie Martin of Centralia finished with an 85 which was fourth among the individual qualifiers. Salisbury’s Bethany Stallo finished with a 94 qualifying her in ninth place.

State competition will be held October 18-19 in Springfield, at Rivercut Golf Course.
