Mongler leads the field in recent golf tournament
Kris Childs - October 8, 2010The District 2 Class 1 Girls Golf Tournament was held last week on Thursday, September 30 at Heritage Hills Golf Course in which Moberly High School and Westran High School both competed in.
Moberly was only a single stroke away from victory on Thursday falling to Harrisburg who shot a 432 as a team where Moberly ended the day with a 433. With Moberly’s second place finish they qualify for sectionals which will be played this week. Westran managed an 8th place finish out of the nine teams competing with a total team score of 546.
Quite possibly the story of the day was Alyson Mongler’s individual performance who won the first place metal by a staggering 15 strokes. Alyson shot a 74 Thursday on the par 70 golf course with her closest competition coming from Centralia’s Katie Martin who shot an 89 on the day. Mongler’s 4 over par marks one of her best individual scores ever and it came at just the right moment with state competition just around the corner.
