Moberly had a few key errors in the game that allowed Fulton the opportunity to score. Fulton capitalized on the miscues by scoring 11 runs on 8 total hits. Moberly starting pitcher Austin Nickerson gave up 8 runs on three hits only 5 of the runs were earned in Austin’s 2 2/3 innings of work. Ben Stoecklein came on in relief and pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 K’s and 3 walks.

Moberly did well at the plate Monday with 8 Spartans collecting a hit totaling 13 for the game. Corey Embree headlined the assault at the plate going 4-4 with 2 doubles and a grand slam and 5 RBI’s, Dylan Huffman and Derek Fletcher had 2 hits with an RBI and a run scored.

On the year, Moberly Senior Derek Fletcher is leading the team in average, home runs, and RBI’s with a .419 batting average 4 home runs and 14 RBI’s. Sophomore Corey Embree is batting .357 and Dylan Huffman is leading the team in hits with 23 and has a batting average of .397.

Moberly is now 5-11 and is scheduled to play for third place in the Fulton Tournament this Friday at 11 am.

The Spartans played Harrisburg last Thursday at home for their senior night and although they kept it close for the duration of the game were unable to secure a victory. Harrisburg held off Moberly and took the win 7-5.

Tegan Seitz suffered the loss for Moberly tossing 6 innings giving up 7 runs on 6 hits striking out 7. Only 3 of Tegan’s 7 runs were earned. Austin Nickerson came on in relief and pitched a scoreless seventh with 2 strike outs.
