Moberly golf team places second in Brookfield Invitational

Moberly’s golf team continued their successful season Tuesday when they placed second in the Brookfield Invitational Tuesday, March 27th. The Spartans finished only behind Kirksville out of 11 teams that competed. Kirksville ended with a team score of 329, seven strokes better than Moberly who finished with 336. Moberly turned in the second best overall team score, this is how they did it: Mark Loeber – 80, Lincoln Schopp – 83, Jared Martin – 86, Dustin Backe – 87, Danny Collier – 107.

Tournament team totals were as follows:

Kirksville – 329

Moberly – 336

La Plata – 336

Brookfield A – 344

Marceline – 355

Brookfield B – 369

Trenton – 374

Putnam County – 382

Milan – 394

Macon – 395

Brookfield C – 404

MHS Coach Hannam was pleased with the performance but says there is still room for improvements to be made “We seem to have a run of high finishes going, but I would really rather be winning some of these tournaments. Kirksville and us have been going back and forth all season long. We’ve beaten them in two tournaments, they’ve beaten us in three tournaments after today, and we’ve split in our dual matches. Wednesday at districts at Innsbrook we will need to beat them to be able to win a district title, so hopefully it’s our turn to win.”
