Moberly Cross Country

The Moberly Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams will continue their season beyond the MSHSAA Class 3 District 5 Championship meet held in Mexico last Saturday. Moberly’s girls finished 2nd overall with an average finish of 22:15.80 and barely missed first place with Helias edging Moberly with an average finish of 22:03.60. The Lady Spartans had five of their seven competitors finish in the top 20 of 58 total athletes to give them 61 total points. Finishing first for Moberly was Hailey Breusch who finished 5th with a time of 21:28.00, followed by Reagan Weis in 8th 21:54.00, Kara Myers in 11th 22:00.00, Logan Nichols in 18th 22:51.00, Carlie Black 19th 23:06.00 Jenna Marchant 30th 24:05.00 and Astrid Sundqvist 58th 32:12.00. Marshall High School rounded out the top three with their 96 total points.

Moberly’s Cross Country Boys celebrated their success this season and will send three varsity athletes to state competition lead by Sam Dickerson who won the MSHSAA Class 3 District 5 Championship Saturday who quite literally “ran away” with the championship. Sam finished the 5k run in 16:55 minutes, a full 64 seconds faster than 2nd place finisher Michael McCoy of Helias who finished in 17:19 minutes. Moberly will also send Freshman Colton Downing who finished in 14th in 18:33 minutes and Sophomore Tanner Stitzer who finished in 15th in 18:37 minutes.
