Junior golf starts off summer in Sedalia
Submitted - June 17, 2010The Missouri Golf Association hosts a highly competitive series of Junior Golf Events around the state referred to as the Hieronymus Junior Series. Athletes that compete in these events come from all around Missouri which makes it possible for the top golfers from smaller schools such as Trenton to compete with athletes from larger schools such as Warrensburg or Columbia. This year Moberly is fortunate enough to have two very good players that are involved in competing throughout the summer events.
Tuesday, June 8 was the opening tournament at the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia. In the 16-18 Boys division Moberly Spartan Junior, Mark Loeber shot a 76 ending the day +6 which was third place in a very competitive field. Moberly Junior, Jared Martin shot 87 for a tie for 15th. The tournament winner was Joshua Fernquist from Warrensburg who shot a 74 (+4). The Hieronymus Junior Series is a season-long series so as it progresses you can review the results in multiple events at www.mogolf.org. Moberly will have additional players getting involved in several of these events including Danny Collier, Acie Seifert, and others.
