Hughes named to All-State

The votes for MBCA All State honors were announced this week with Moberly’s Brennen Hughes collecting enough votes for an All-State selection.

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association voted for all-district as well this week. Moberly has three student athletes this year that were selected: seniors Brennen Hughes and Dallas Downing, and sophomore Cory Briggs.

Brennen Hughes ended the year with a total of 553 points, 268 rebounds, and 52 blocks. Those numbers translate into game averages of 25.1 points per game, 12 rebounds per game and 3 blocks per game. Brennan also shot an amazing 70 percent from the floor this past season. He finishes his high school career with 1,930 total points.

Corey Briggs finished up the year with 265 points and 118 rebounds good for season averages of 9.8 points per game and 4 rebounds per game and also shot 78 percent from the free throw line.

Dallas Downing finished the season with 167 points and 84 rebounds. Dallas shot exceptionally well from the floor with an overall field goal percentage of 46 percent. Dallas also shot 38 percent from distance making 30 of 78 3-pointers this season.
