Higbee stays on winning path
Kris Childs - May 13, 2010The Higbee Tigers continued their success this season when they took down Atlanta High School 10-0 last Friday in five innings.
Higbee plated one run in the first inning but things were relatively quiet for the next two innings until the fourth when the Tigers exploded for 4 runs in the inning. Higbee added five more runs in the fifth inning to claim victory via the ten run rule.
Travis Holtzclaw got the win for Higbee pitching all 5 innings only giving up 2 hits and striking out 9 Hornets in his shut out bid.
Friday was pretty much Travis’ game because while he was pitching a gem on the mound he also was leading the Tigers assault at the plate. Travis collected 3 hits including a single and a pair of home runs and accounted for 7 RBI’s. Craig DeJonge had a pair of singles and 2 RBI’s while Tyler Tucker and Devin Cook both had a double.
The Higbee Tigers improve their record to 11-2 overall and will begin their district play this coming week.
