Cairo hosts annual classic

Cairo hosted their yearly baseball classic last Saturday which six schools competed in. Cairo played their first game against Higbee and lost 10-5.
Higbee plated the first run of the game in the first and lead 1-0 but in the third Cairo rallied for 3 runs to take the lead 3-1. Higbee was seeing the ball well at the classic and regained the lead in the fourth inning 4 runs and 3 more in the sixth to go on to double up Cairo in the first game.
For Cairo Aaron Barratt, Andrew Prather, and Seth Barratt all contributed a double.
As for Higbee, Craig DeJonge went 3-4 with a double and 3 runs scored. Mitchell Steward was 2-4 with 2 doubles. Donnie Fuller and Zach Neffet collected a hit while Arthur Fuller drew two walks and scored 3 runs.
In Cairo’s second game, they matched up against New Franklin. The Bearcats had a bit more success at the plate in the latter of the two games scoring nine total runs en route to a 9-2 victory over the Bulldogs.
Aaron Barratt led the Bearcats at the plate going 2-4 with a double, a triple, and a run scored and Colby Dodd was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.
Higbee played Salisbury in their second game and lost 12-1.
