Vehicle accident sends one to hospital

Moberly Police were dispatched to a two-car injury accident at 3:33 p.m. lat Friday on West US Highway 24 near the moberly Aquatic Center at Rothwell Park.

According to a press release issued by Cpl. Jeremy Baird, Moberly Police Department, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Kalea Widaman, 23 of Moberly, was eastbound on Hwy 24 and preparing to turn onto Randolph County Road 1217. As Widaman turned, she crossed into the path of a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by Dan Boardsen, of Columbia, who was traveling west.

Boardsen suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Widaman was transported to University Hospital in Columbia. Widaman’s legs were pinned beneath the dash of her vehicle and she complained of a loss of feeling in her legs.

Moberly Police were assisted by the Moberly Fire Department, the Randolph county Sheriff’s Office, the Randolph County Ambulance District and a first responder from Chariton County.
