Sheriff’s Report
Submitted - April 14, 2010Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols reports the following incidents, reports, investigations and arrests.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Highway JJ in reference to an animal complaint. The complainant reported that a large white dog was at their residence and was acting aggressive. The deputy located the owner of the animal and advised of the complaint. The owner stated that he would keep the dog tied up. No further action taken.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in rural Huntsville in reference to a report of trespass. The complainant reported that an individual who had been previously warned not to come on the complainant’s property was observed on the complainant’s property delivering a box. The suspect departed the premises prior to the arrival of the deputy. A short time later, another deputy observed the suspect in a vehicle. The suspect was stopped and arrested on an outstanding warrant.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Renick in reference to a report of suspicious activity. The complainant reported that a short black male subject wearing a leather jacket approached his residence and was talking about helping boys and girls. The complainant added that the suspect was mumbling and was difficult to understand what else he said. The complainant stated that the suspect was then picked up by two white male subjects in a grey minivan and departed the area. An extra watch was placed on the residence.
A deputy assisted an investigator with the Division of Family Services with a child abuse hotline alleging physical abuse at a rural Higbee residence. Interviews were conducted. No evidence was obtained substantiating the claim. A copy of the report and investigation has been forwarded to the Randolph County Division of Family Services.
A deputy received a report from a Moberly man concerning an assault that took place in rural Moberly. The complainant reported that he was parked in front of a residence when the owner of the residence approached him, grabbed the complainant’s shirt, hit him in the face, pushed him into his car and kicked the door shut. The deputy viewed the victim, his shirt and vehicle. The deputy was unable to view any evidence to substantiate the victim’s claim. The deputy then contacted the suspect and several witnesses at the residence. The deputy obtained written statements. The investigation continues.
A Huntsville resident was served an order for 96-hour detention, evaluation and treatment. The individual was transported to Missouri Psychiatric Center in Columbia without incident.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in rural Moberly in reference to a theft. The complainant reported that a female subject known by him only by her first name came to his house to help him clean. The complainant then noticed that his prescription medication was missing. When the complainant confronted the suspect she left the residence walking. The area was searched finding no one walking. The investigation continues.
A deputy was dispatched to the Sugar Creek Cemetery in reference to a vehicle parked there. Upon arrival the deputy located a vehicle with four occupants. The deputy checked the occupants and inquired of what they were doing. The subjects stated that they were ghost hunting. The deputy informed the individuals that they were trespassing and would be charged if they did not leave. After the subjects departed the deputy checked the cemetery finding nothing disturbed.
While on patrol, a deputy found an unsecured door at a Clark business. Contact was made with the owner who responded. A search was made of the building finding nothing disturbed.
A deputy received a report of individuals trespassing on railroad property owned by Kansas City Southern Railroad. The individuals were reported as gathering scrap metal. The deputy located two females on the railroad tracks near Higbee. The individuals were identified and interviewed. A copy of the report has been forwarded to the Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney for review and action.
A deputy was dispatched to a Huntsville business in reference to a report of property damage. The complainant reported that when she arrived at the business she noticed that someone had driven a vehicle over a grassy area cutting ruts. Photographs were taken of the damage. The investigation continues.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Highway JJ in reference to a peace disturbance. The complainant reported that her neighbor was mowing his yard and it was disturbing her dog. No further action was taken.
A deputy was dispatched to a property on County Road 2270 in reference to peace disturbance. The complainant reported that someone was near her property discharging a weapon. The deputy responded to the area and heard a four-wheeler being operated but did not hear any firearms being discharged. The deputy has placed an extra watch on the property.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence on County Road 2250 in reference to a theft. The complainant reported that someone stole an 18 karat gold wedding ring set, an opal ring and a gold necklace with a round pendant and diamond. The investigation continues.
While on patrol, a deputy observed a vehicle sitting on Count Road 1190 blocking, causing a hazard. The license on the vehicle was checked, finding the owner to reside in the State of Kansas. Due to the vehicle blocking the road, the deputy had the vehicle towed.
A deputy was dispatched to a location on Highway 24 east of Huntsville in reference to cattle on the highway. The deputy located the cattle. Contact was made with the owner who responded and contained the animals.
A deputy was dispatched to Higbee in reference to a suspicious individual knocking on residence doors. The deputy located the subject setting in the City Park. The individual stated that he was selling magazine subscriptions. The deputy noted that the individual appeared to be under the influence and could smell the odor of burned marijuana. The deputy inquired if he could pat the suspect down. The suspect agreed. The deputy located a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in rural Cairo in reference to a domestic disturbance. The complainant reported that she was in the process of moving from her ex-boyfriend’s residence when she and her ex-boyfriend became involved in a verbal argument over a cellular phone. The complainant gathered property and departed the residence. No further action taken.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Higbee in reference to a report of harassment concerning juveniles. The deputy spoke with the victim and his father who reported that two of his son’s classmates were threatening his son with bodily harm. Interviews were conducted. The investigation has been turned over to juvenile authorities.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Cairo in reference to an individual who was attempting to do harm to themselves. Upon arrival the deputy was informed that the subject had taken numerous pills. RCAD transported the subject to MRMC-ER for evaluation and treatment.
Diane L. Keller was served a Randolph County warrant for failure to appear on a class A misdemeanor charge of passing bad checks – less than $500. Keller posted the required bond and released.
Linda Ruth Burns a/k/a Linda Ruth Cox was served a Randolph County warrant for failure to appear on a class B misdemeanor charge of peace disturbance – first offense and a class A misdemeanor charge of resisting/interfering with arrest, detention or stop. Burns was released after posting the required bond.
Dale Lee Stone was served a Randolph County warrant on a class A misdemeanor charge of possession of up to 35 grams or less of Marijuana and a class A misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Stone was released after being given credit for time served.
Keith Sidney Doyal was served a Randolph County warrant on a class D felony charge of driving while intoxicated – alcohol and a class D felony charge of operated a motor vehicle while driver’s license revoked. Doyal remains incarcerated.
Kevin Lee Snodgrass was served a Randolph County warrant for failure to appear on a class B misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated – alcohol and an unclassified misdemeanor charge of miscellaneous federal motor carrier code violation. Snodgrass remains incarcerated.
Rachel Hillary Trump was served a Randolph County warrant on a class B felony charge of burglary 1st degree and a class D felony charge of operated a motor vehicle on highway without a valid license – 3rd and subsequent offense. Trump remains incarcerated.
Brent Allen Hydorn was served two Randolph County warrants. Warrant one for failure to appear on a class A misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated – alcohol – prior offender, a class A misdemeanor charge of operated a motor vehicle on highway while driver’s license/privilege revoked and a class A misdemeanor charge of operated a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident. Warrant two for a probation violation on a class D felony charge of nonsupport in each of six individual months within any twelve-month period, amount owed is in excess of $5,000. Hydorn remains in the Randolph County Jail in lieu of the required bonds.
Christopher Scott Walters was served a Randolph County warrant for failure to appear on a class A misdemeanor charge of passing bad checks – less than $500. Walters remains in the Randolph County Jail in lieu of the required bond.
Amy Natasha Haggard was served two Randolph County warrants. Warrant one for failure to appear on a class A misdemeanor charge of passing bad checks – less than $500. Warrant two for failure to appear on a class B misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated – alcohol, a class A misdemeanor charge of failed to drive on right half of roadway when roadway was of sufficient width, resulting in an accident, a class B misdemeanor charge of failure to register a motor vehicle and a class C misdemeanor charge of as owner, operated or authorized another to operate a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. Haggard was released on her own recognizance by the court.
Joshua Michael Nickerson was served a Randolph County warrant on a class C felony charge of domestic assault 2nd degree and a class D felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon. Nickerson posted the required bond and was released.
Bryant Jerammy Ray Fifer was served a Randolph County warrant for failure to appear on a class A misdemeanor charge of operated a motor vehicle on the highway without a valid license – 1st or 2nd offense and a class C misdemeanor charge of as owner, operated or authorized another to operate a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. Fifer posted the required bond and was released.
