Police arrest suspect in leaving the scene accident

Moberly Police have made an arrest in regards to a hit-and-run accident taking place September 7.

On Sept. 7, Gilbert Wayne Kirkendoll, 40 of Moberly, was standing in front of a parked vehicle, on Bertley St. North of Roberts, working on a 1989 Ford Ranger, owned by April Stewart, also of Moberly. a red pickup truck with a dark colored camper shell was southbound on Bertley and collided with a parked 1991 Ford F150. The impact drove the Ford F150 forward, pinning Kirkendoll between the F150 and the Ford Ranger. The red pickup then left the scene. Kirkendoll sustained a lacerated and broken left lower leg.

On September 11, Moberly Police arrested Joshua Grant Cooke, 23 of Moberly, on three Randolph County probation violation warrants, all original charges of Forgery, with cash only bond of $10,000 on each warrant. Cooke was unable to post bond and was transferred to the RCJC.

On September 12, officers from the Criminal Investigation Division interviewed Cooke. At the conclusion of the interview, Cooke was charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. As Cooke was still being held on the probation violation charges, he was returned to the RCJC pending the filing of formal charges concerning the September 7 incident.
