Moberly Police arrest burglary suspect

A 19-year-old Moberly man was taken into custody last Thursday in connection to a February 16 burglary of the Dollar General store at 643 N Morley.

According to Commander Kevin Palmatory, officers responded to an alarm at the business. When officers arrived, they discovered a rear door to the business standing open. The store was checked and no one was found inside.

A subsequent review of the store’s video security system revealed a white male subject about 5’7”, stocky, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark colored jeans in the business after closing. The subject left the business through the rear fire door which sounded the audible fire alarm and the burglar alarm.

Palmatory said witnesses were contacted who viewed the security vide and identified the suspect who was taken into custody Feb. 18.

While incarcerated in the Moberly City Jail, pending formal charges, the subject attempted to harm himself. He was moved to a secure location and later transported by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department to a mental health center.
