Fire department to conduct hydrant testing
Submitted - June 17, 2010The Moberly Fire Department will be conducting annual fire hydrant testing throughout Moberly. In the next few weeks, testing will begin in 4th Ward and moving south and east into 3rd Ward. First and 2nd Ward will then be completed.
Each week the Fire Department will send out a Code Red message to remind residents and businesses when work will be done in their areas.
Due to flushing of the water mains while conducting this testing, residents may notice discolored water for a short time. This should clear up after a few hours. Here are a few suggestions:
* Do not wash clothes during the morning while testing is being done in your area, especially light colors or whites. The discolored water may stain the clothing.
* If testing is being done in your area, try not to use water in your home for a few hours to allow the water to clear up.
* If you are driving in the area where testing is being done, please try to avoid driving through the water stream. This may cause damage to your vehicle.
If you have any question about the municipal water supply system or the hydrant testing program, you may contact the Water Department or the Fire Department.
