A proclamation will be presented by city and county officials designating April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, 3:30 p.m., Moberly City Hall.
Weather spotting class, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the St. Pius X Gym. The class will be given by the weather service from Pleasant Hill and the speaker will be Andy Bailey. There is no charge for the class. The event is sponsored by Tri-County Amateur Radio (Ham Club). For more information call 269-8474.
Friday, April 9
Preceptor Laureate Eta members of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will meet at noon, at Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The group will donate blankets to Ted McMillin on behalf of Kids International Ministries in the Philippines.
The North Park Carnival will be from 5:30p.m. to 7 p.m. with a live auction held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Passes for all games will be on sale April 6-9 in the mornings at NP from 8:05a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Passes go up in price the night of the event. Donations include items donated from Moberly and Columbia restaurants, Columbia spas, several golf packages, tickets to movies, Royals games and Cardinals games, a photo from the KC Chiefs and a mini helmet from the St Louis Rams, tickets to Branson, and different theatres in St Louis and KC.
Echoes of Calvary Church will host a special fellowship service at 7:30 p.m. Special guest speaker is Dr. Dorothy Smith, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Moberly. The Grant Chapel AME Choir will provide special music. Echoes of Calvary is located at 516 Hagood. For more information contact Pastor Doug Coonce at 660-833-5877.
Bowl for Kids Sake, 10 p.m. to midnight at Community Lanes. Teams should consist of five people and each team is asked to raise a minimum of $300 to participate. Bonuses of snacks and t-shirts will be given to all who participate. All money raised will benefit the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
Saturday, April 10
Indoor Swap Meet, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Lodge in Rothwell Park. To register for this event call 263-6757.
Sunday, April 11
Bowl for Kids Sake, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Community Lanes. Teams should consist of five people and each team is asked to raise a minimum of $300 to participate. Monday, April 12
Week of the Young Child Parade, 4:30 p.m. Entrants will gather at the St. Pius X playground. The parade will proceed to the Clock Tower on Reed Street where Mayor Burton will present a proclamation designating April 11-17 as Week of the Young Child. All children are invited to walk with a parent or guardian.
Public meeting, 6 p.m., Moberly City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is for the City of Moberly to get citizen input regarding rainwater runoff and stormwater problems.
Cardboard Boat Regatta workshop, 7 p.m., at the Lodge in Rothwell Park. This is a free workshop where you will learn about the rules, construction ideas, tips and tricks to get ready for the Fourth of July Cardboard Boat Race.
