Y asks for online votes for chance at $250,000 grant

The Randolph Area YMCA is in the running for a $250,000 grant from Pepsi to replace and upgrade weight machines and cardiovascular equipment in its wellness center, but they need your help to make this dream a reality.

The grant is part of the Pepsi Refresh Everything project. People can go to www.refresheverything.com/rayymca to vote for the Randolph Area YMCA’s project to win or they can text their vote to 73774 with the subject line 103328. Voters must be 13 or older. People are asked to vote every day, but only one vote per email address will be accepted. Voting is open until October 30 and the project with the most votes at the end of the month is awarded the grant.

With this grant the Randolph Area YMCA would be able to add new pieces of cardio equipment, a new techno gym weight machine, new benches, weights and dumbbells. They would also be able to purchase an Easyline equipment circuit specially designed for youth and senior citizens and replace their Multi-Jungle Weight Machine with one that is customized to the needs and desires of the YMCA members.

Jason Jones, executive director of the YMCA stated, “this is a very unique grant opportunity where we are fully relying on our YMCA members and everyone in Randolph County and the surrounding communities to vote for our YMCA Project every day.”

Pepsi is giving out up to $1.3 million in grants every month. The grants are awarded at $5,000, $25,000, $50,000, and $250,000 levels. The top 100 runners-up in each category will be automatically transferred over to the next month’s voting, although vote totals do not carry over from one month to the next.
