Sheriff warns of bad business deals
Submitted - May 28, 2010Sheriff Mark Nichols would like to remind the citizens of Randolph County about disreputable paving companies, contractors and/or salespersons.
These companies normally prey on the elderly. Representatives of these companies will approach a potential customer at their residence and will offer them a “GOOD DEAL”. After the service is completed, a bill for more than the agreed upon price is presented. Usually the services or purchased products are of lesser quality than that of which the customer thought they were receiving.
Be very vigilant when dealing with companies or individuals who approach you at your residence trying to sell you a product or service. Before any services are agreed upon, ask for and require that the individuals provide you with credentials and good identification. If an agreement for services is made, obtain a formal itemized proposal and not a hand written proposal on a piece of scrap paper.
Should you experience any problems of this nature, contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 660-277-5095 or your local authorities.
