Renick R-V board reviews budget options
Submitted - March 17, 2010The Renick R-V School Board met Monday night seeking ways to plan for the future with state budget cuts looming.
It is expected that the state will cut funding to education by two percent. This information affected several of the items on the board’s agenda.
• The board had previously promised $7,500 to go toward the community track but rescinded the offer. Bid information will be shared with the Renick PTO/Booster Club.
• The salary schedule for certified faculty was approved with a freeze to the base but the schedule maintains movement for experience and education.
• The summer school budget was approved. However, if the state does not fund summer school, the district will cancel it. Dates set are June 1-25 for current grades K-7.
• Budget amendments were approved.
• Budget cut ideas for the upcoming school year were discussed.
In other action, MSIP survey results were shared. The survey was completed in the fall by students, parents, faculty, staff and board of education members.
The technology plan was approved and will be submitted to the Department of Elementary and secondary Education (DESE) by April 15.
The board accepted the resignation of Norma Crafton, art teacher.
A faculty/staff appreciation meal will be held Friday, May 7 at lunch time.
The next regular board of education meeting will be April 19 with a reorganization of the board following the April 6 election.
