Park Board prepares for winter, plans for spring

Rothwell Park is becoming more dog-friendly with the addition of three dog waste stations. These stations are in Rothwell Park and at the Howard Hils Athletic Complex. The Moberly Friends of the Park donated funds towards these dog waste stations. Pictured from left are Mike Bork, Parks and Recreation director, and J.W. Ballinger, Friends of the Park president.

It was announced at the Tuesday night Park Board meeting that donations were received for the waste stations for dogs at the park, there are now three stations in Rothwell Park. Donations were also received for the pumpkin launch and the Santa House this December. Fiberglass acoustic panels will be installed at The Lodge very shortly as well. The Amy Mellon MS Walk will be held at Riley Pavilion in April. Work will begin in January to demolish the old pool. Also, because of vandalism, the Christmas display at Rothwell Park will be rerouted. The lights will be more concentrated around The Lodge, in one area. The display is still meant to be driven through, but persons are more than welcome to walk the route as well. The Aquatic Center is already making plans for swimming lessons this coming summer and have recently cleaned out the concession stand and have made a pile of Pepsi products to leave for the Pepsi man. The Optimist Club have donated 3 benches at the Athletic Complex.
