Moberly to raise water, sewer rates
Submitted - June 25, 2010The Moberly City Council approved a water and sewer rate increase at the June 21 Council Meeting. In order to balance the budget for Public Utilities, it was deemed necessary to impose a rate increase of 3 percent, in addition to budget cuts, transfers and delaying projects. Although this is less than the level of inflation, staff is trying to keep the rates as low as they can and still provide an adequate level of operation and maintenance.
The current rate for water is $0.45 per 100 gallons; the new rate will be $0.46 per 100 gallons. The current rate for sewer is $0.67 per 100 gallons; the new rate will be $0.69 per 100 gallons. The new rate will amount to an increase of $0.03 per 100 gallons combined for water and sewer with a combined new rate of $1.15 per 100 gallons (or $0.0115 per gallon). The new rate will go into effect on July 1, 2010 and will reflect on the August statement.
