Submitted by Sam Richardson, chair

The governments of the United States and the State of Missouri will declare February 12 as an annual observance of General Omar Nelson Bradley Day in ceremonies at the Moberly High School Auditorium at 4 p.m., Friday.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature proclamations from the United States Congress, delivered by U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, and the Missouri General Assembly, delivered by Senator Kurt Schaefer. BGEN J. Marty Robinson, assistant adjutant general of Missouri, will represent the active duty military.

A reproduction of the portrait of Bradley which is in the Bradley corridor at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., will be unveiled and will hang in the foyer of the Moberly High School auditorium, on the south end of the school campus.

A reception will follow the ceremony.

The event at Moberly High School Friday is sponsored by the General Omar Nelson Bradley Library and Museum Committee, a citizen panel organized by the Moberly City Council last year to bring recognition to the community’s favorite son.

Members of the Library and Museum Committee are Mary Lee Noel, Howard Hils, Joe Knaebel, Wayne Wilcox, Russ Freed, City Manager Andy Morris, City Councilman Dick Boots and chairman Sam Richardson.
