Luetkemeyer tours Thomas Hill
Janet Morales - February 24, 2010U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer visited the Thomas Hill Power Plant last Thursday as part of a district-wide tour to listen to concerns about what is happening in Washington, D.C.
During his tour of the plant, Luetkemeyer noted his opposition to the so-called cap-and-trade legislation which he said would boost energy costs through a national energy tax. He said the legislation would effect Missouri manufacturing, agriculture and small business but in the ninth district, Thomas Hill is important for the role the plant plays in supplying energy to Missouri families.
Luetkemeyer is a proponent of developing a variety of domestic energy sources in an effort to gain energy independence.
“From my perspective, we must support an ‘all of the above’ energy policy to end our dependence on foreign oil, especially from those nation that would intentionally do us harm,” Luetkemeyer said. “We can do this by increasing production of domestic sources of energy like at the Thomas Hill Power Plant and promoting conservation and efficiency measures. I am a strong supporter of investment in biofuels, alternative fuels and clean coal technology.
