Governor names Crutchfield as RC commissioner

Governor Jay Nixon announced Wednesday the appointment of Jerry Crutchfield, Huntsville, to fill the seat of Randolph County Commissioner for the Western district. The Commissioner’s position is being vacated by Randy Asbury who was elected District 22 representative in November.

Crutchfield is a native of Randolph County, a lifelong farmer and livestock market representative. He is employed at Sutherland’s Lumber in Moberly and Farmer’s Livestock Market in Boonville. He is a past member and president of the Westran R-I School Board, a member of Huntsville First Baptist Church and the Huntsville Rotary Club. Neta, his wife of 40 years, works in the Randolph County Collector’s office.

“Thirty years of management experience in animal agriculture have given me a wide range of job skills,” said Crutchfield when asked about his qualifications as commissioner. “I have a good working knowledge of budget and finance, real estate, employee management, public relations, marketing and sales.”

This knowledge and experience will come in handy as the commission is working on the 2011 budget which will be finalized at the end of the month.

The local Republican and Democrat organizations submitted names of persons to be considered for the commissioner’s job but Crutchfield was selected over both nominees, Republican Glenn Spotts and Democrat Randy Smith by Democrat governor Jay Nixon.

Crutchfield also is a Democrat serving actively in Randolph County for 27 years. He is a member of the Randolph County Democrat Club and has served on the Randolph County Democratic Central Committee.

“I am honored to be appointed Western District Commissioner by Governor Jay Nixon,” said Crutchfield. I would like to thank those who supported me and intend to serve Randolph County to the best of my ability.”
