Drew, Smith join Huntsville Council
Janet Morales - May 6, 2010The Huntsville City Council met in regular session last Thursday. On the agenda was certification of election results, mowing bids, a presentation regarding medical benefits and a notice regarding a Safe Routes to School grant.
The council had approved a bid at its March meeting for mowing the Huntsville Cemetery. After the initial owing, the owner of the company decided he wanted to change his bid and there were numerous complaints regarding the job that had been done. Mayor Frank Miller said they had checked the legalities of re-bidding the project. The new bid, approved by the council, went to Harlan Lawn Care in the amount of $960 per mowing.
Mayor Miller told the council the city had received a letter from MoDOT regarding the Safe Routes to School grant. The letter reminded the City of Huntsville that the grant monies have to be spent within a four-year time period and they are 18 months into it.
Following the regular session of the meeting, new and re-elected members to the council were sworn in. New members are Amanda Drew and Jason Smith. Those re-elected to council seats are Kenny Vaughan, Kayla Carnahan, Scott Perkins, Debbie Webster and Frank Miller.
