County to observe Week of the Young Child

Randolph County early childhood educators, along with hundreds of local chapters of national organizations around the country, will celebrate Week of the Young Child April 11 – 17.

Randolph County early childhood professionals are working together to improve professional practice and working conditions in early childhood education, and to build public support for high-quality early childhood education programs. To raise public awareness, local educators, children, families, and child advocates, will parade from St. Pius X playground to City Hall at 4:30 p.m., Monday, April 12. Mayor Burton will sign a proclamation designation April 11- 17 as the Week of the Young Child

Week of the Young Child honors the more than 35 million children from birth through age eight in America and the families, teachers and other adults who help children make the most of the opportunities in their early years.

Research and experience clearly show that children’s earliest years are crucial learning years. Week of the Young Child is a chance to celebrate the learning opportunities of young children, and to recognize the responsibilities we share for helping them make the most of the early years.

These local celebrations of the Week of the Young Child are designed to build broader support for early childhood programs that nurture young children’s early learning and growth. Children’s opportunities are our responsibilities. If we value our children, our families, our schools, and our community, we must make accessible, affordable, high quality early childhood education a priority.

All local area children (with a parent or guardian) are invited to walk in Monday’s parade and the rest of the public is welcome to come to down town Moberly and show your support for young children by watching the parade. Bring your child. Celebrate with us!
