“Drink the promise of never doing child abuse” reads the prize-winning child abuse prevention poster.
County officials, children, parents, grandparents and community members attended a ceremony at City Hall Thursday to officially declare April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Randolph County.
Children from area daycare centers were asked to prepare posters for the event with the top three being recognized at the ceremony. The winning design, created by Hazel Plaster, 9, who attends Community Daycare, will be used on tee shirts worn by workers and children at lemonade stands to take place downtown during Moberly Railroad Days. Hazel received a $50 savings bond from Mike Skubic of Citizen’s Bank.
Ellenna Orscheln took second place and Makayla Payne placed third in the poster contest. Each girl received a Wal-Mart gift card.
