The Christmas lights are on in Rothwell Park. Lights are sponsored by the Moberly Altrusa.

Thursday, December 9

* North Park crafts and carols / bookfair, held during the school day

* Northeast R-IV K-3 grade Christmas program, 7 p.m., in the elementary gym. Babysitting will be provided.

* Westran High School Christmas Concert – band and choir, 7 p.m.

* Moberly High School Christmas band concert, 7 p.m.

Friday, December 10

*Santa House opens! Santa House is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. December 10 – 21. The Santa House is located behind the James Youth Center in Rothwell Park. The Santa House is free to go through, there is a fee for the pictures with Santa.

* Frosty 5k Run, 6 p.m. Call Moberly Parks at 660-269-8705 ext 2012 to register. The race will start at the Lodge.

* Rothwell Park will shut down from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for setup of the Frosty 5K. During this time no one will be allowed to enter the park. Participants should enter the park through the Highway 24 entrance.

Visitors to see Santa must enter Rothwell Park from Fisk Street during this time.

* Cocoa and Carols, 7 p.m., Moberly Municipal Auditorium. This year’s concert will again feature the Heart of Missouri Sweet Adelines. Complimentary cocoa and cookies will be served. Tickets may be purchased at the Moberly Area Chamber of commerce or at the door. The concert is sponsored by the Moberly Area Council on the Arts.

Saturday, December 11

* Breakfast with Santa, 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Huntsville First Christian Church.

* Wreaths Across America, 11 a.m. sharp, Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville.

* Higbee Christmas parade, 3 p.m.

* Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Christmas dinner, 6:30 p.m., followed by Joyful Sound. Bring a covered dish.

* Central Christian Church children’s pageant, 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, December 12

* “Christmas Shoes”, 10:30 a.m., Timber Lake Christian Church.

* Youth caroling, 1 p.m., Huntsville First Christian Church.

* Children’s Christmas party, 4 p.m., Huntsville United Methodist Church.

Monday, December 13

* South Park Elementary Crafts and Carols

* The annual Northeast R-IV Music Booster Christmas Bazaar, held during the school day.

* St. Pius X School band and choir concert, 7 p.m.

* MHS Community forum, 7 p.m., MHS library, to discuss the possibility of a new high school. The public is encouraged to attend.

Tuesday, December 14

Filing for school board candidates opens at 8 a.m.

* Moberly School Board meeting, 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, December 15

The Moberly Mirror will be in your mailbox Friday instead of your doorstep Wednesday. The special coverage should make it worth the wait.

Thursday, December 16

Sweet Springs Baptist Academy Christmas play, 6:30 p.m.
