9/11 – Remembrance Ceremony
Submitted - September 10, 2010The Higbee Community Betterment will once again host a short 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. The event will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Higbee VFW on Randolph Street, in Higbee, MO at 6:00 p.m.
Past President Renna Bean will give a short statement followed by prayer, release of 9 balloons and a short time of silence.
Bean states in an interview that this ceremony is held to remember all of those who are now serving in the Military, those who have been injured and for prayer for those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001 and since that date in the ongoing war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
She went on to say that the HCBA feels that it is important as a small community to remember the lives of those who were lost in the tragedy of 9/11/01 and to remember why even today we should be thankful for our freedom and our rights to worship and freedom of speech.
She also stated that there are several soldiers serving in the armed forces today from Higbee and the surrounding areas.
Everyone is welcome and anyone wanting to add something to the event or speak is encouraged to contact Renna at 660-415-7424. Please visit www.thehigbeefair.com for information about the Higbee Community Betterment.
