Westran students to perform historical program
Submitted - March 10, 2010The Westran fourth and fifth grades will present an historical program for the Historical Society at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, at the Westran Elementary Gymnasium.
The fourth grade will present famous Missourians and the fifth grade will do a play based on the native American tribe of Potawatomi who were moved from Northern Indiana to Kansas in 1838.
This treacherous, forced removal of the Indians was called the “Trail of Death”. The Potawatomi camped east of Moberly and in Huntsville where markers have been placed to remember this historic event.
This play is under the direction of Westran instructors Debbie Grotewiel and Wendy Reid.
The public is invited to attend. For more information contact Dora May Craven at 269-8405.
