Weather holds for successful Huntsville Horse Show
Janet Morales - July 19, 2010Although dark skies and winds brought some anxiety to Sutliff Stadium Saturday evening, it was warm dry weather for the 78th annual Huntsville Horse Show held Friday and Saturday.
Beautiful horses and their riders came from all over the state to compete in this prestigious event. Student riders, youth and the young-at-heart followed the commands of announcer Mike John and the cadence of the organ played by Julie Block of Kansas City. The judge for the two-day affair was Cydney Rae Cutchall who came all the way from Salisbury, North Carolina. Bill Stuart served as ring master lining up the competing Arabians, Morgans, Tennessee Walkers and American Saddle bred horses.
Others helping to make the show a reality include the following; Rev. David Nicholson, Christian Church, Huntsville; Lynn Frazee, Hallsville, show manager; Eddie Geyer, Huntsville, chairman; Margaret Block, Huntsville, show secretary; Liz Schmidt, Columbia, ring secretary; Sylvia Oliver, Deanna Bagby and Lin Block, all of Huntsville, entry secretaries; Jill Pilkington, Huntsville, treasurer; Dr. Cliff Miller, Moberly, veterinarian; Jay Merrick, Butler, farrier; Bill and David Gipson, Huntsville, ring gatekeepers; and Sue Webster, Hallsville, flag bearer.
