Support group offers cancer victims ‘Living Hope’

“Living Hope” is a faith based cancer support group that has started meeting in Moberly at 7 p.m., at the Timber Lake Christian Church every third Monday of the month. The group will be led by Scott Davis, RN.

Davis, a long time resident of Moberly, is a registered nurse with 20 plus years of experience. He currently works at the VA hospital in Columbia where he has worked in the Urology and Chemotherapy departments for the last four years. Before that he spent 15 years as a surgical nurse.

Davis himself was diagnosed with prostate cancer about six years ago and decided to start this support group after about a year of consideration. He realized there was a need for a faith-based cancer support group for the Moberly area, so decided to share with the community from his extensive chemotherapy and personal experience.

“After experiencing the emotional ups and downs of having cancer myself, and having worked with cancer patients and their families for these last few years, I just felt I needed to provide a venue where people who have cancer and their families can come and share their emotions, fears, dreams and hopes,” said Davis. “This group will provide a calm atmosphere where emotional and spiritual support can take place. This is a place where we can share and pray for each other and find strength in God”.

Anyone who is interested can contact Davis at either 660-998-0876 or email at Living2Hope@gmail.com.
