St. Pius Present Fall Concert
Liz Morales - November 1, 2010St. Pius X School presented a fall concert directed by Reva Neeb and Paul Copenhaver on Thursday, the 21st. St. Pius 5th and 6th grade choir, directed by Reva Neeb, started off the evening with a cheerful love song with a folk style, called “Cindy”. After two more songs, 5-8 grade choirs sang as a collected choir, “Lean On Me”, the song we all know and love. After the 7th/8th grade boys chorus sang a tune together and the girls chorus sang for the audience, the 7th and 8th grade band took the floor. Directed by Paul Copenhaver, the band opened up their show with “Ode to Joy”, the same song that is usually played as a procession for area high school graduations. After two more patriotic and folk tunes, the band bowed to the proud crowd of family and friends, and the guest ensemble, The ShowMe Brass Band got ready to perform for the crowd.
Brass instruments include trumpets, trombones, tubas, euphoniums and french horns. Copenhaver is a member of the ShowMe Brass Band and invited them to perform at his concert to inspire his students to show them what they could do if they pursued their musical careers after school ends. The Band played beautiful selections of classical and spiritual music. Their smooth and haunting melodies reached the ears and hearts of every person in the room.
For the first concert of the school year, it was obvious that the St. Pius musicians are coming along very nicely!
