SIP Support Group

Surviving In Pain (S.I.P.) Began in March 2010. It is a bible-based, Christ-centere support group that meets to help men and women deal with their pain or illness.

Pam Bissey, of Moberly, has dealt with chronic physical pain for over 20 years. Even though she has had support from her family and many friends, she says many times she has felt alone and did not know where to turn for help. She thought to herself,” If I feel alone and in pain, there has to be others that feel the same.” With research, she found that many people are trying to find answers to the pain that they experience as well as someone to reach out to. And so, S.I.P. was formed.

Pain comes in many forms. There is, of course, physical pain, but it can also come in other forms. You may be experiencing pain due to an illness, but you also may be hurting emotionally or spiritually. S.I.P. is here for you. The support group does not recommend doctors, hospitals, treatments or medication. The group shares together what helps individuals survive through the pain. Pam believes that trust in God and His power is a major step in the coping process and that only through God can a person find peace needed each day.

S.I.P. Support meetings are held every third Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The meetings are held at the North Park Church of God, Holiness, located at 501 Chandler street in Moberly. Anyone struggling with pain is urged to attend and welcomed.
