Northeast R-IV holds spelling bee

Brieann Cruse waits to spell her final word to win the fifth grade spelling bee at Northeast R-IV School.

Northeast R-IV School held the final phase of its elementary spelling bee before friends and families March 12. Top spellers in grades three through five will go on to compete at the Renick Spelling Bee.

Winners are as follows:

First grade – Tierra Wood, first place; McKenna Prather, second; and Darren Luntsford, third place;

Second grade – Shannon Wortmann, first; Jacob Davis, second; and Zachery Brown, third.

Third grade – Stanley Stevens, first place; Olivia Morris, second; and Chloe Prewett, third.

Fourth grade – It took several “final” words to determine a winner in the fourth grade with trips over words like vegetable and visible. Put finally Trevor Bosch triumphed with “principal”. Brynn Winkler took second with Rheanne Chrisman placing third.

Fifth grade – Brieann Cruse took first place honors followed by Monica Tracy, second, and Alex Warren, third.
