MPD offers TIPS hotline

The Moberly Police Department would like to remind all city and county residents of the availability of the Moberly/Randolph County Crime Line.

The Crime Line, also called the TIPS line, was established in August 1998 as a means to help resolve incidents of crime by involving the citizens of Moberly and Randolph County. Local businesses and individuals donated money to the Crime Line fund which is used to pay cash rewards for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of persons involved in assorted crimes or criminal activities.

The Crime Line functions in the following manner:

A person calls the Crime Line at 269-TIPS and speaks with a Criminal Investigator at the Moberly Police Department. The person providing the information does not have to provide their name, as they will be issued a specific “caller number” and they will not be subpoenaed to testify or identified in any report. If the information the caller provides leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of a person or persons involved in a specific crime, the board of directors for the Crime Line will then authorize a cash reward to that caller.

An individual or business that wishes to make a donation to the Crime Line may do so by delivering the donation to the Moberly Police Department or to Chamber of Commerce Director Debbie Dean Miller, who is also the secretary-treasurer for the Crime Line. As the Crime Line is denoted as a non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.
