The Northeast District very warmly welcomed new State Regent Donna Nash and were excited and anxious to hear about her projects.
The 2010-2012 theme, “Catch the Glow! Missouri Daughters Light the World through Historic Preservation, Education and Patriotism” is reflective of the enthusiasm and energy of our members who continue to promote the objectives of our National Society. We believe our members are our most valuable resource and through your efforts are able to make significant contributions toward ongoing historic and genealogical research, scholarship programs and increased public awareness of American history.
Our State Regent’s Project, “Spotlights” Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.”
“Spotlight on Historic Preservation,” Preserve our State Headquarters by continuing required maintenance.
“Spotlight on Education” “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, and life to everything.” Plato Establish a new MSSDAR Music Scholarship to a boy/girl who is pursuing a degree in music.
“Spotlight on Patriotism” partner with the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City to send as many WWII veterans as possible to the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC. Top priority will be given to America’s most senior veterans, survivors of WWII, as well as veterans who have a terminal illness who wish to visit their memorial.
Our State Motto, “A Smile is God’s Gentle Light,” is apparent as long lasting friendships are gained and renewed by Daughters as they gather together for various events and activities held throughout the year including the MSSDAR State Conference, Flag Day Picnic and Christmas Open House.
Some of the State Officers and State Chairmen had displays set up around the room for our members to view and to become better aware of their projects.
There were workshops available for all members to attend and a question and answer session. We enjoyed visiting with old friends and making new friends. Next year’s Northeast District Meeting will be held at Downing, MO.
The Margaret Miller Chapter received certificates for having the most members attending and also the most officers attending this meeting. The oldest member present was a member of the Margaret Miller Chapter, Mrs. Mabel McCormick. Mabel was presented a dozen roses.
