Lions train car dedication to be held Sunday

A new train car for the Rothwell Park Railroad, sponsored by the Moberly Lions Club and built by volunteer Robert Schafer, will be dedicated at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 19.

The Moberly Lions have had a special relationship with The Magic City Railroad since its beginning in 2003. It was the Lions Club that rebuilt the small picnic shelter that is the Lions Station where 3,200 passengers boarded that first year with as many as 5,200 per year over the seven succeeding years. The Lions Club continues to be a supporter of the railroad and its members will be on hand for the dedication and will provide a treat for all children riding the train.

The Rothwell Park Railroad continues to operate until the end of October. The train volunteers invite everyone out this Sunday and other Sundays through the end of season to enjoy Moberly’s great train adventure
