Huntsville United Methodist Church reflects on how far they’ve come

Huntsville United Methodist Church held its 175th church anniversary celebration October 24 and noted how far the church had come from circuit riders and meeting in homes.

Long-time members and those who were once members told of some of their special memories of the church and a bit of the history as it was remembered. Member Tom Patton read letters from members and former pastors who could not attend. Doris Redding of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville spoke to the congregation and congratulated them on the anniversary. A special congratulatory message was given by Amanda Drew, member and Huntsville council person.

As they celebrated the past, they also looked to the future in presenting a time capsule and asking the congregation for their hope for the future. the primary hopes were “creating disciples for Christ and thus transforming the world.”

With the help of church members and the pastor, the building, pulpit, baptismal font and the Lord’s table were reconscecrated. That was followed by a recommitment of the congregation.
