GBE students got active, got fit and got Disney

Schools throughout the state took part in the Get Active, Get Fit program sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. The top 25 schools in Missouri with the highest percentage of participation won Radio Disney dance parties.
Gratz Brown Elementary School was one of those top schools and last Friday third, fourth and fifth grades took turns having their own parties.
There was dancing of all sorts to all sorts of music. There were hula hoop contests, jump rope contests, basketball dribbling contests, even a contest to find the best dancing teacher.
But most of all there was a lot of dancing.
It was a fun afternoon for GBE students but it was also an active one with a variety of physical activity that proved to everyone that exercise can be fun.
Anthem states there is a “staggering statistic that says only 3 percent of Americans adhere to the four key healthy behaviors: not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, eating right and exercising regularly.”
The Challenge was implemented to help educate more than 26,000 students throughout Missouri about the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle, according to Anthem.
GBE was presented a certificate in recognition of their accomplishment
