GBE becomes a zoo

Gratz Brown Elementary went from a school for third through fifth graders to a zoo full of animals last Friday – all for a good cause – the school carnival.

Classrooms were transformed with games for children of all ages with an animal theme. According to Della Bell, principal, the GBE PTO, who sponsored the event, raised $8,000 from the carnival and silent auction. Bell said proceeds will help fund field trips, incentives for the Reading Counts program and incentives for Positive Behavior Supports.

Bell said Family Life Fellowship donated many carnival prizes including a number of DVD’s.

“We were thrilled wih the crowd and community support for our school,” said Bell.
