Final Plans for the 2010 Higbee Fair are underway
Submitted - June 25, 2010Jennifer Woods, President of the Higbee Community Betterment states that final plans for the 2010 Higbee Fair are underway. The fair committee tries to keep the loved traditional activities and they also try to add new items to the schedule.
The Fair dates are Wednesday, July 28 through Sunday, August 1. The carnival (Bluff City Shows) will once again offer arm bands each night they are open. Advance armbands are now on sale. You may contact Jennifer at 660-676-7247 or any HCBA officer or member to purchase your advance arm bands. Also visit the website at www.thehigbeefair.com for additional information.
The parade, a long time tradition, will be held on Saturday, July 31. Lineup starts at 11 a.m. and the parade will start promptly at noon. Please contact Mary Blacketer to pre-register at 660-338-2700. Old cars, horses, 4 wheelers, bicycles, those who wish to walk, businesses, churches – everyone is welcome. Special ribbons for specific entrants will be presented. The winners of the baby show and all pageants are welcome to ride on the royalty float(s).
Three bands will have a chance to perform this year at the Higbee Fair. On Thursday night, July 29, The Iron Mountain Band will play beginning at 8:30 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. On Friday night, The Off Road Cadillacs will play from 9 p.m. until midnight. On Saturday night, The Missouri Bounty Hunters will play from 9 p.m. until midnight. Food booths will remain open while bands play. Bring your lawn chairs and come enjoy this free entertainment. Bands will set up on the main stage in the Higbee Park across from Casey’s.
The Baby Show will be held on Friday night July 30. Registration starts from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and the show will start at 6:30 p.m. Registration is open to everyone in surrounding towns and counties. Pageants from Little Mr. and Miss to the Higbee Queen Contest will be held on Thursday, July 29 starting at 6:30 p.m. You must pre-register for the Jr. Miss and Queen contests. Contact Misty Woods at 660-998-2091 for information on any of the pageants. Mrs. Higbee will conclude the evening on Thursday night. Flea market and craft booths are still available for the Fair.
Information booths, not for profits may ask about free booth space. First come first serve on locations.
