Pastor’s Study: Home is Where I Belong!

As my family and I have been running from place to place on vacation this summer, my mind wonders what is going to be the next stop. Leaving home to go visit family and friends, or maybe just a time alone with my wife and children. Do I ever think that I may not return to my own house? Often we do not think about this, yet we should. You never know when something will happen to you, and you will never return to your earthly home. In the book of Luke 12:40 it says this,”Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of Man comes at an hour when you think not”. Most people do NOT think of what could take place, they just know that they are ready for their trip, but are you?

We are not given any promise of a tomorrow, nor are we promised our next breath, we are to be ready at all times! You may ask what does this have to do with my summer vacation. The key is “Home is where you belong”. This means if you leave your spiritual home for a vacation, you may not have the chance to return. Mark 14:37 says, “And he comes, and finds them sleeping, and said unto Peter, Simon sleepest thou? Could not you watch one hour?” This pertains to the struggle between the flesh, and the spirit. Verse 38 says, “Watch ye and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The Spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak”. This is saying we struggle with things in life, such as a choice we must make. Do not let the devil give you one thought that you can always go back “Home” if you want to, because in that split second that you leave God, your life could end without any hope of making your home in heaven.

You may say “Pastor, I am ready at all times”, but just stop and think for a moment, is your mind and heart set on God, or have you placed your thoughts on your next vacation time, and what fun you are going to have? Yes, it is good to have a little time away or families visits, but take God with you. Before you leave your earthly home, be sure that you are ready for your heavenly home, for the time is close, and we know not the time or the hour of his return. If you have any question in your mind about your heart, and where it is with God, then you need to rethink your life with Christ. You should have no doubt in your mind, or your heart that you know where your life will end. There is a simple way to know that you are ready. Romans chapter 10 verse 9 say this”That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALL BE SAVED”. You ask, “Is this all I need to do?” No, you must do this and the word also says “Keep His commandment”. Not that hard is it? Put your trust in Him, Him being Jesus Christ and you will be guaranteed your home in heaven, because home is where you belong.

God Bless you till next week, or we meet at His feet!
