Christos Report

 Happy New Year from your friends at Christos. We sincerely hope that you will receive double blessings this new year.

A really big thank you goes to all the volunteers and donators that made your Christos Center Food Pantry operate so efficiently last year. I am updating volunteer lists for 2011, call if you are interested and call again if you do not hear from me. We need people to help with unloading and sorting food. We are able to visit the Food Bank in Columbia every week and we always need substitutes. Our phone number is 263-0278, please leave a message.

Not a lot of our food has come from truckers recently, but non-perishable items that have been donated from the community have made your food dollar donation stretch. Thank you!

The “Carols for Christmas” concert at Trinity Methodist Church was truly delightful and of course the cookies afterwards were delicious. Kristine Zauke did a great job and the music was beautiful. Thanks to all who contributed. Cash and canned items were most appreciated. It has been rumored that it was the “First Annual Christmas Concert”.

I promised to tell you of the several food ministries that support Christos Center. Central Christian purchases peanut butter and Trinity Methodist keeps us supplied with Mac ‘n’ Cheese. Last summer a Sunday school class provided bar soap. Also, a lot of churches have a donation box for parishioners to share their blessings. Children from St. Pius X brought a little wagon load of food and blessed at least 100 different families. So many donations come from anonymous sources ( both corporate and individual) that it is almost impossible to mention everyone. The need has grown so much in the last year. Even a couple of cans of vegetables put together with other donations helps a family that has exhausted all other resources. Check your cupboards, someone could use that can of beans.
